Alright Anime, you’ve had this coming for a LONG time. LOL. Don’t get me wrong, Anime is awesome and all, but I have to admit that certain anime are starting to get on my nerves. Not to mention it’s corrupting a lot of great American cartoons by being so popular we feel the need to copy Anime so we can ride the fan-waves. So enough is enough and my characters Danny, Sara, Spot, and Peggy the Pirate (who are all very Disney influenced) take on some of the more prominent Anime personalities… BAM! POW! WHAP!
This is dedicated to anyone who, like me, has gotten tired of the Anime fan-base and wish younger people could stop and appreciate great classical animation (like Disney before they fired everyone). And to the Anime fans who might find this offensive… man… it’s just a cartoon. Have some FUN, yo!You know, the funniest thing about this statement is.
Half that anime was made before Disney even got good in modern nostalgia goggle terms. Which was the late 80’s early 90’s. They only “fired everyone” around mid 2000. Unless Snow White and Cinderella are some of hist favorite movies…

Tom Preston never checks his sources. That’s what’s most idiotic about this whole picture. It’s not offensive. It’s a horribly thought-out, unplanned rage against something he doesn’t understand. His characters aren’t even classic in the slightest.

This is what he is representing us as. This is what someone who orgasmically repudiates himself as a cartoonist, represents us as Americans as. Idiots who don’t even know what we’re talking about when it comes to our profession.

His characters aren’t even Disney Influenced…what? They’re more.. Sunday comic that you threw away the next day influenced. Don’t get me wrong, who doesn’t love Sunday newspaper comics, right? I like how he assumes anime artists can’t appreciate the classic styles too. It’s ignorant, ELITIST artists like this that gives makes the art world a miserable place. He doesn’t think before he spews shit out and assumes the worst in things. As a “cartoonist” as he calls himself.. he sure fails to give credit to ALL styles - anime included.
Hey, douchebag- your art isn’t even that great. Quit while you’re ahead because you make yourself look like an idiot even more. I’m not even offended, I’m just SAD he failed to comprehend that he was being a hypocrite (because he claims anime artists fail to appreciate other styles yet he batches the style itself), didn’t do any research on the subject, generalizes the anime artist populous, and just.. plain STINKS.
It’s not often lately that I complain about other artists. In fact… it’s been YEARS since I ranted about one, but this guy DESERVES IT. I have more “Disney influence” in my “anime” art than this guy claims.
